Little Wren News
Miss Gregory: April 2024
What a busy week it has been. We went littler picking on World Earth Day, slayed dragons on St. George's day and took part in a sponsored triathlon- see earlier posts. And, we have managed to pack lots more learning in too.
In our mathematics sessions, we have explored shape. We have been learning to identify and describe shapes by their properties and have been using language such as, "It's round" "It has four straight sides" "It has four corners" "It has two shorter sides and two longer sides". We enjoyed experimenting with shape to find out whether they rolled or did not roll, we printed with shapes, sorted shape, went on a shape hunt in the outdoor area and have created pictures with shape. Perhaps you could continue to look out for shapes over the weekend?
In our MyHappymind session, we continued to talk about all the things we are thankful for, "I'm thankful for Mabel cos she plays with me" said Bonnie. "I'm thankful for my mummy and daddy" said Millie."I'm thankful for Nana and Grandad" said Joseph.
During phonics, we were introduced to the phoneme 'f' and worked hard to listen for this sound in words. We have also enjoyed activities to support our segmenting and blending skills — wow! Our rhyme of the week was, Row, Row, Your Boat.
We have also taken part in yoga, dough disco and focused on circular motions during our squiggle sessions,
Another lovely week has been had! Next week, we begin our theme linked to Eric Carle and we will meet a tiny and very hungry caterillar.
Have a super weekend everyone,
Miss Gregory

We discovered that we could squeeze, blow, twist, spin and even throw objects to do this. We then realised that all of these verbs could be classified into a push or a pull. We then moved on to learn how items move on different...

A very big thank you to Miss Phillips and Mrs Clarke for teaching and supporting the children through the year and to our parents for their continued support of their children and school. Great team...
