This week in Base 1, we have started learning about our key figure, John Gerard.
John Gerard was a herbalist and botanist born in Nantwich more than 400 years ago! He was popular for his healing remedies. To deepen the children's understanding of what a remedy is, we explored remedies that are still used today, such as jasmine and camomile tea for relaxation. The children were intrigued by what these remedies might taste like, so we had a little taste test! Everyone tried some camomile tea while listening to relaxing music and some children had a little honey in their tea too!
